A 9-year-old rescue dog known for naps and affection is now available for adoption.
Vineland, NJ – A senior dog described as a “professional cuddler” is looking for a permanent home through a South Jersey animal rescue, where he is currently living in foster care.
Melo, a 9-year-old dog, is being cared for through an Animal Humane Society location in Vineland. Staff say he has adjusted well to foster life, spending much of his time resting and burrowing under blankets.
Calm temperament with playful moments
Despite his laid-back demeanor, Melo still shows bursts of energy and enjoys interacting with people and other dogs. He is also described as food motivated and responsive to toys.

“Melo would like to clear something up: he does have hobbies. The photos just happen to catch him during his favorite one… sleeping,” the organization shared. “Don’t be fooled by the sleepy photos though—this guy still gets the zoomies when the mood strikes!”
Key Points
- 9-year-old dog Melo available for adoption in Vineland
- Known for calm, affectionate personality and love of blankets
- Requires a home without cats but does well with people and dogs
Trained and ready for a home
Rescue staff say Melo is housebroken, crate trained, and knows basic commands such as sitting, making him well-suited for a transition into a permanent home.
The only restriction for potential adopters is that Melo must be placed in a home without cats, due to compatibility concerns.
Interested adopters can apply online and arrange a meet-and-greet at one of the organization’s locations.
