Eatontown, NJ – One small kitten is drawing quiet attention at the Monmouth County SPCA as staff continue their push to find homes for animals still in their care. Blizzard, a roughly four-month-old kitten, is described as shy and gentle, the kind of cat who needs patience, stability, and the right environment to come out of his shell.
Shelter staff say Blizzard would do best in an adult-only home with people who understand cats and can move at his pace. An especially good fit, they note, would be a household with a well-socialized, cat-friendly feline who could help him adjust and build confidence. Unlike bolder kittens, Blizzard is not looking for chaos or constant handling, but for consistency and calm.
Blizzard has recently reached the minimum weight required for neutering and is expected to undergo surgery once approved for adoption. After that, he will be cleared to go home, joining the growing list of animals whose next step depends entirely on adopter interest.
The SPCA says Blizzard’s story reflects a larger reality inside the shelter, where many animals with quieter personalities are often overlooked in favor of more outgoing pets. Staff emphasize that these animals can form strong bonds once settled, particularly in homes willing to give them time.
The Monmouth County SPCA is open for walk-in visits from noon to 5 p.m., with additional adoption information available online. As Blizzard waits for his surgery date and a future family, the shelter is encouraging the public to look closely at animals like him who may not demand attention but still need a place to call home.
