Sidewalk bump turns violent as DC man stabbed and robbed

Man stabbed after sidewalk clash in DC as suspect snatches phone and flees

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A simple bump on a Northwest sidewalk turned violent when a man was stabbed and robbed in broad daylight, police said.

The attack happened Tuesday afternoon in the 900 block of G Street NW, where the victim and suspect got into a verbal dispute after bumping into each other.

Authorities say the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim before grabbing the victim’s phone off the ground and running away.

DC Library Police quickly located the suspect nearby and took him into custody.

Police identified the suspect as 30-year-old Isiah Robert Barnes, who has no fixed address. He is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, theft, and possession of an open container of alcohol.

The knife believed to have been used in the attack was recovered.
