Snapped utility pole shuts down Hope Road near Ranney School in Tinton Falls

Hope Road near Ranney School remains closed as crews replace a snapped utility pole in Tinton Falls.

TINTON FALLS, N.J. – A section of Hope Road near Ranney School was closed Sunday evening after a utility pole snapped, forcing emergency repairs expected to last through the night.

The Tinton Falls Police Department announced the closure around 5 p.m. on social media, warning drivers to avoid the area for at least 8 to 10 hours.

Utility crews were on scene working to replace the damaged pole and restore power and service connections in the area.

Roadway expected to reopen overnight

Officials did not specify the cause of the break but confirmed no injuries were reported. Traffic was being diverted onto nearby routes while workers secured live wires and prepared to install a new pole.

Residents in the vicinity were advised to plan alternate travel routes and allow extra time for detours through local side streets.

Power and traffic impacts limited

Authorities said power outages were limited to a small number of homes and businesses near the intersection. Ranney School was unaffected by the closure, though police cautioned that morning traffic could still be impacted if repairs extend beyond early Monday.

The police department said updates would be provided once the roadway is cleared and reopened to traffic.
