STONY POINT, N.Y. — A 27-year-old woman from Stony Point has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the first degree for the fatal stabbing of her mother in December 2022, the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday. Marilyn Mora admitted to killing her mother, Doris Quispe, during a domestic altercation, and now faces a 17-year sentence in state prison.

On the night of December 11, 2022, Stony Point police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing in progress. Upon arriving at the residence, officers found Quispe lying in a pool of blood in the second-floor hallway. Mora was being restrained by her husband near the scene. Authorities pronounced Quispe dead from multiple stab wounds, including a slashed throat and a wound to her back.

“The defendant in this case engaged in a heinous act of senseless violence,” District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II said in a statement. “She now faces the full consequences for her actions under the law.”

Investigators later revealed that Mora’s husband had witnessed the attack and was on the phone with 911 during the incident. Mora used two kitchen knives in the fatal assault, according to the investigation.

Mora was remanded to the Rockland County Jail and is scheduled for sentencing on December 3, where she will face 17 years in state prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision.
