Suspects Indicted for Kidnapping 22-Year-Old Woman at RTA Station

By Charlie Dwyer / April 14, 2022

CLEVELAND – Two Cuyahoga County men were indicted for a failed kidnapping that took place on April 3rd.

According to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley, Cuyahoga County grand jury has returned an indictment charging Sean Simpkins, 39, and David McCord, 43, for attempting to kidnap and human traffic a 22-year-old female at an RTA Station in Cleveland.

“On April 3, 2022, around 3 p.m., Sean Simpkins entered the West 98th Street RTA station and approached the female victim, 22. He then assaulted her and dragged her out to a car parked on West 98th Street and Lorain Avenue. David McCord was in the driver’s seat waiting to drive them away,” the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office said. “While in the vehicle, the victim managed to escape. Afterward, McCord and Simpkins fled the scene. A good Samaritan saw the incident and called the police. The Cleveland Division of Police (CPD) responded to the scene.”

David McCord and Sean Simpkins drove to West 104th Street. McCord was detained by CPD in the vehicle. Simpkins fled on foot to a nearby coffee shop on West 104th Street and Lorain Avenue, where he was arrested.
