T-rex statue steals attention in viral Minneapolis video following fatal ICE shooting
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – A tense and tragic ICE operation in Minneapolis took an unexpected turn online after we spotted an enormous T-rex statue in the background of footage showing law enforcement activity at the scene.
The video, which circulated widely on social media Tuesday, shows agents and local police responding after a woman was shot and killed when she allegedly drove her car toward federal officers during an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation.
The incident, which left one officer injured, prompted protests and a “warning order” from Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, placing the National Guard on standby as a precaution.
Let’s not even talk about the Great White Shark later in the video.
But amid the heavy law enforcement presence, the viral clip drew attention for another reason — a large, realistic-looking T-rex statue positioned in the driveway of a nearby home, appearing to crush the hood of a car beneath it. The towering dinosaur sculpture, complete with teeth and tail, quickly became a surreal centerpiece in an otherwise grim scene, with users across platforms sharing screenshots and asking whether it was “real.”
It is, in fact, a genuine display — a large-scale yard statue long known to residents of the area. Locals have previously shared images of the dinosaur, which has stood as a quirky neighborhood fixture and occasional roadside attraction.
While the presence of the statue has no connection to the shooting, its sudden appearance in a national news clip sparked disbelief and viral reactions, highlighting the stark contrast between the serious nature of the law enforcement response and the bizarre suburban landmark looming behind it.
