Teaneck police issue warning as heavy snow buries township roads

TEANECK, NJ – Township officials are urging residents to stay off the roads after a powerful winter storm dropped roughly one foot of snow across the area, leaving streets difficult to navigate and prompting enforcement of local parking restrictions.

The Teaneck Police Department said Sunday that only emergency travel should occur as crews from the Department of Public Works continue plowing and treating major routes. Officers have already issued numerous summonses to vehicles left parked on roadways in violation of the snow emergency order.

Police said they are coordinating closely with the Fire Department and Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps to ensure emergency access remains open throughout the township as cleanup continues into the night.

  • About one foot of snow has fallen in Teaneck, creating hazardous travel conditions.
  • Police are enforcing parking restrictions and issuing summonses to violators.
  • Fire, EMS, and DPW crews are working together to maintain public safety.

Officials thanked residents for their cooperation and urged them to remain indoors until roads are fully cleared. Additional updates from Teaneck Township will be provided as storm recovery operations continue.
