Teen arrested in armed robbery aboard D.C. streetcar

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A teenager has been charged in connection with an armed robbery on a streetcar in Northeast Washington, where victims were allegedly threatened at gunpoint.

The incident occurred Sunday afternoon, at approximately 12:35 p.m., as two victims boarded a streetcar in the Unit block of H Street, Northeast. According to police, a suspect approached them, brandished a handgun, and demanded their belongings. The suspect reportedly fled after obtaining the victims’ property.

First District officers responded to the scene shortly after the incident was reported. A 16-year-old male from Southeast D.C. was later apprehended in connection with the robbery.

The suspect, whose identity was not released due to his age, has been charged with armed robbery.

This arrest follows a rise in incidents reported along H Street, a key corridor for public transit and pedestrian activity in the District.
