CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD – A 19-year-old man died after a shooting Wednesday afternoon in the town of Capitol Heights, prompting a homicide investigation by Prince George’s County Police.
The victim was identified as Ky-Mari Bowman of Waldorf, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.
Officers responded around 3:20 p.m. to the 500 block of Abel Avenue for reports of a shooting. Police said Bowman was found outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital, where he died a short time later.
Detectives with the department’s Homicide Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are working to identify a suspect or suspects.
Investigators said preliminary information indicates the shooting was not random. The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates all homicides occurring within the town of Capitol Heights.
