Teen fatally shot inside Jersey City apartment; homicide investigation underway

Jersey City, NJ – A 16-year-old boy from Pennsylvania was shot and killed inside a Jersey City apartment Friday evening, prompting a homicide investigation by Hudson County authorities.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department responded to an apartment on Rose Avenue shortly after 5:10 p.m. following reports of an injured male.

Officers found the victim, identified as Al-Jahmir Curry, with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Victim pronounced dead at scene

Curry was pronounced dead just before 5:30 p.m., according to Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death.

Investigators remained at the scene through the evening collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. No arrests have been announced, and authorities have not commented on a possible motive.
