BRONX, N.Y. — A 17-year-old boy was shot in the arm and pelvis Monday evening near Washington Avenue and East 170th Street, according to police.

Authorities said the incident occurred around 5:24 p.m. in the 42nd Precinct. The unidentified suspect opened fire and struck the teen once, wounding his right forearm and right pelvis.

Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the teen to Saint Barnabas Hospital. He was listed in stable condition, police said.

The suspect fled the area on foot and remains at large. Investigators have not identified a motive for the shooting.

A witness described the shooter as a male with a dark complexion, about 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white shirt with a black sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and sneakers.

Police seek public assistance

Police are continuing their investigation and are urging anyone with information about the incident or the suspect’s whereabouts to contact authorities.

As of Friday, no arrests had been made in connection to the shooting.

The intersection of Washington Avenue and East 170th Street has been the scene of previous incidents, though no direct connection has been established between this shooting and past events.

The New York Police Department has not released surveillance footage or further identifying details.
