Police say two 16-year-olds demanded a victim’s shoes at gunpoint before officers tracked them down and recovered the stolen sneakers.
Washington, D.C. — A late-night robbery in Southeast DC ended with two teenagers in custody after police say they held a man at gunpoint and stole his shoes.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the robbery happened at approximately 11:02 p.m. Friday near 2nd Place and L Street, Southeast DC.
Investigators said the suspects approached the victim, and one of them brandished what appeared to be a handgun and demanded the victim’s shoes.
The victim complied, and the suspects fled the area with the stolen footwear.
Canvassing officers quickly located two of the suspects and took them into custody, police said.
Authorities recovered the victim’s shoes and a BB gun during the investigation.
A 16-year-old male from Capitol Heights, Maryland, and a 16-year-old male from Seat Pleasant, Maryland, were arrested Friday and charged with armed robbery.
Police have not released additional information about whether other suspects may have been involved.
