Lynwood, CA – A mother, father, and grandmother were charged Friday with the murder and torture of 8-year-old Isaiah H., whose body was discovered inside a cooler filled with ice in a Lynwood apartment last week.
Authorities say the boy died after suffering prolonged abuse at the hands of his own family members.
The child’s remains were found days after his death, prompting a homicide investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

District attorney condemns ‘horrific abuse’
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said the case reflects a profound betrayal of trust. “The horrific abuse that Isaiah endured is made even worse by the fact that, as alleged, it was at the hands of the people who were meant to love and protect him,” Hochman said. He pledged to ensure full accountability and justice for the child.
Defendants face multiple charges
Prosecutors identified the suspects as Destiny Luckie Harrison, 24, Daniel Alberto Monzon, 25, and Ana Carcamo Zarceno, 45. Each faces one felony count of murder, torture, and child abuse resulting in death, with additional allegations of willful harm. Monzon and Zarceno are also charged as accessories after the fact.
Court appearance and bail
All three defendants appeared for arraignment in Department 12 of the Compton Courthouse. Bail was set at $2 million each. The charges stem from a criminal complaint alleging the boy endured sustained abuse before dying on October 24. His body was recovered several days later.
Prosecution and investigation
Assistant Head Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Hatami and Deputy District Attorney Mackenzie Teymouri of the Family Violence Division’s Complex Child Abuse Section are prosecuting the case. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
