LA PLATA, MD. – Maryland State Police troopers and other first responders pushed through thick smoke inside a La Plata nursing and rehabilitation facility early Friday after a fire compromised one of the building’s wings, launching an urgent evacuation of patients.

Troopers Push Through Thick Smoke to Reach Patients
The emergency began before dawn when the La Plata Barrack received the call about a fire at the nursing and rehabilitation facility.
