Upper Moreland, PA – The Upper Moreland Police Department (UMPD) investigated a threat made by a student on social media involving a potential shooting at Upper Moreland High School early Thursday morning. Authorities determined the threat was not credible.

Students and staff are confirmed safe, and all schools will operate normally today. Upper Moreland High School will follow an early dismissal schedule for final exams, dismissing at 11:00 a.m. The fifth-grade promotion will proceed as planned at 12:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

As a precaution, UMPD will increase its presence at the high school. The administration appreciates the efforts of UMPD and other authorities for ensuring student and staff safety.

Parents are encouraged to contact their child’s guidance counselor if their child expresses fear or anxiety regarding the social media threat. Counselors are available to support students with any concerns.
