Utica Man Charged After Domestic Incident Involving Knife

UTICA, NY – A domestic disturbance led to the arrest of 31-year-old Kevin Monroe of Utica early Friday morning. Monroe faces multiple charges including criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, and criminal mischief.

The incident occurred around 12:55 AM at a residence on the 2100 block of Erie St. Utica Police were called to the scene following reports of a domestic altercation involving an intoxicated male armed with a knife.

Upon their arrival, officers spoke with the victim who reported that during a verbal dispute, Monroe retrieved a knife and began stabbing the couch repeatedly while the victim was seated on it. Fearing for their safety, the victim contacted the police.

Monroe was located in his bedroom by the officers and detained without incident. Following the investigation, he was transported to the Utica Police Department where he was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing, and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
