Arrest Made Following Road Rage Incident in Hockessin

July 27, 2024

HOCKESSIN, DE – Delaware State Police arrested Wilmington resident Steven Wright, 37, on charges including aggravated menacing after a road rage incident on Sunday night. The confrontation involved two minivans and occurred near the intersection of Limestone Road and Brackenville Road.

On Sunday at around 7:17 p.m., troopers were dispatched to a reported collision in the area. While en route, they received information about a road rage episode between a white Chevrolet Uplander, driven by Wright, and a black Chrysler Voyager. Wright allegedly brandished a black handgun multiple times during the incident.

Both vehicles ended up at the collision scene where Wright was apprehended without incident. A search of Wright’s vehicle unveiled a loaded handgun concealed in a bag between the seats. Prior to this, Wright had displayed the weapon upon arriving at a local party, following the Chrysler as it left.

The driver of the Chrysler, a 23-year-old male, was unaware of Wright’s motives for following him. According to reports, Wright engaged in reckless driving, including abruptly braking to cause a collision with the Chrysler, which stopped after spotting fire police officers.

It was determined that Wright, a convicted felon, is barred from possessing firearms. He was taken to Troop 2, charged with several offenses, and held at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $32,600 cash bond. No injuries were reported from the incident.
