Verizon Outage Affects 175,000 in New Jersey Tri-State Area: No, We Can’t Hear You

Massive Verizon outage hits New Jersey and New York, leaving over 175,000 without service

NEWARK, N.J. – Verizon customers across New Jersey, New York, and several neighboring states were hit with widespread service disruptions Wednesday, knocking out voice and data access for more than 175,000 users, according to outage reports.

The telecommunications giant confirmed that its wireless network experienced significant interruptions beginning earlier in the day, affecting both mobile and data services. New Jersey and New York were the hardest hit, with additional reports coming in from Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

In a statement, Verizon said engineering teams were “fully deployed and focused on the issue,” adding that technicians were working to restore connectivity as quickly as possible. “We know this is a huge inconvenience, and our top priority is to get you back online and connected as fast as possible,” the company said.

The company has not yet disclosed the cause of the outage or when full service will be restored, but officials indicated that progress was being made throughout the evening.
