Virginia Beach domestic horror leaves woman dead, suspect critically injured as infant death investigation unfolds

Police probe possible connection between deadly shooting and separate unresponsive child incident

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A late-night domestic disturbance turned deadly in Virginia Beach after officers responding to a 911 call heard gunfire and discovered a 22-year-old woman fatally shot inside a home, with a second 22-year-old man found critically injured, police said.

Emergency Communications and Citizen Services received a call on May 31, 2026, reporting a domestic assault in the 5000 block of Magnolia Chase Way. As officers approached the residence at about 9 a.m., they heard gunshots and forced entry into the home.

Inside, officers found Natasha Forbes, 22, of Virginia Beach, deceased at the scene. Quentell Lawrence, 22, also of Virginia Beach, was found with life-threatening injuries and transported to a local hospital.

Investigators said preliminary findings indicate Lawrence shot Forbes before turning the weapon on himself. He remains hospitalized in critical condition. Police have secured charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, pending further legal proceedings.

Authorities also confirmed a separate but related incident involving the same individuals occurred the previous day.

On May 30 at approximately 2 p.m., emergency dispatchers received a call reporting an unresponsive infant inside a vehicle traveling in the 5000 block of Lynnhaven Parkway. The caller was instructed to pull over and begin CPR before emergency crews arrived. The child was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead.

The medical examiner has not yet determined the cause and manner of death for the infant, and investigators have not publicly confirmed how the two incidents may be connected.

Police said the case remains an active investigation, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Virginia Beach Police Detective Bureau or Crime Solvers.
