Police say speed stop in Anne Arundel County uncovered fentanyl, cocaine, pills and firearm
SEVERN, Md. — A routine traffic stop for speeding in Anne Arundel County escalated into a major drug and weapons arrest after officers say they discovered a loaded shotgun, multiple controlled substances, and cash inside a vehicle, authorities said.
The stop occurred on May 30, 2026, at approximately 4:35 p.m. in the area of Annapolis Road and Disney Road in Severn, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
Officers said the vehicle was initially pulled over for a speed violation. A subsequent search based on probable cause led to the discovery of a loaded Mossberg 590 shotgun, shotgun shells, and multiple suspected drugs, including MDMA, cocaine, Alprazolam, Adderall, and fentanyl. Police also reported recovering approximately $1,500 in cash.
Both occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody at the scene.

Authorities identified the arrested individuals as 33-year-old Brian Anthony Cobb of Severn, Maryland, and 61-year-old Stephen Anthony McCoy of Mount Airy, Maryland.
Police did not immediately release additional information regarding potential charges or court appearances.
