Westminster Man Wins Big Thanks to Anthony Santander’s Grand Slam

WESTMINSTER, MD — Mark Yurick, a lifelong Orioles fan from Westminster, won $6,000 through the Maryland Lottery’s Home Run Riches Contest, thanks to a grand slam by Anthony Santander during the Orioles’ game against the Houston Astros on August 23.

Yurick, who was the Contestant of the Game during a family vacation in Ocean City, watched the Orioles rally from behind after Santander’s grand slam in the sixth inning turned a potential loss into a 7-5 victory. The grand slam brought Yurick’s total winnings to $6,000, a significant boost from the $1,000 he had already secured earlier in the game.

A devoted Orioles fan since childhood, Yurick has participated in the Home Run Riches promotion in past seasons, benefiting from Orioles home runs in 2021 and 2023. He plans to use his winnings for future vacation plans and expressed his gratitude to Santander for the unforgettable win, stating, “Without him, all this wouldn’t be here!”
