Winter Storm Watch Issued for North Jersey: Heavy Snow, Rain, and High Winds Expected

January 17, 2025

NORTH JERSEY — A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for North Jersey as forecasters warn of heavy rain, snow, and strong winds set to impact the region throughout the weekend.

Rain is expected to begin late Friday night and continue into Saturday before transitioning to snow on Sunday. Meteorologists predict snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches, accompanied by wind gusts reaching up to 50 mph.

Local officials have cautioned drivers to expect hazardous road conditions and advised delaying or avoiding travel if possible. Those who must travel are urged to allow extra time and exercise caution.

Residents are encouraged to park vehicles off the roadway and stay mindful of emergency snow routes, where parking restrictions will be enforced. Vehicles violating these restrictions risk fines and possible impoundment.

Power outages can be reported directly to PSE&G by texting OUT to 4PSEG (47734), calling 1-800-436-PSEG (7734), or using the utility’s website and mobile app.

The impending storm threatens to disrupt travel and power across North Jersey as officials urge residents to prepare for severe winter conditions.
