DELMAR, Del. — A 36-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl were killed Saturday when their motorcycle collided with a truck on Whitesville Road in Delmar, according to the Delaware State Police.
The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. Aug. 29 west of Robin Hood Road. Police said a Kawasaki Ninja was traveling east behind a Dodge Dakota and Ford F-650 rollback truck.
According to the preliminary investigation, the motorcycle passed the Dakota in a no-passing zone and struck the driver’s side of the rollback truck as the truck turned left into a private driveway.
Both people on the motorcycle were ejected.
- A 36-year-old Delmar woman died at an area hospital.
- An 11-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
- The 19-year-old truck driver was not injured.
Police withheld the victims’ names pending family notification. The roadway remained closed for about four hours while investigators examined and cleared the scene.
