Bladensburg Road stabbing suspect arrested after manhunt

Washington, D.C. — A 42-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that occurred Monday evening on a busy stretch of Bladensburg Road NE, police said Wednesday.

The incident took place around 5:35 p.m. on April 28 in the 800 block of Bladensburg Road. Fifth District officers were flagged down by a man who had been stabbed by a female suspect, who fled the scene before police arrived. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a nearby hospital.

Surveillance footage from the area helped detectives identify the suspect. Officers distributed the image to patrol units, leading to her capture the following day.

Arrest made one day after attack

On April 29, officers recognized the suspect from the surveillance images and made the arrest. The woman, identified as Grace Shanita Hilliard of Northeast D.C., was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (knife).

Officials did not release a motive, and no other suspects are believed to be involved at this time.
