BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A 25-year-old woman was stabbed early Thursday aboard a northbound D train approaching the New Utrecht Avenue and 55th Street subway station, police said.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:52 a.m. as the train neared the Borough Park station. According to authorities, the woman was approached by an unidentified male who displayed a sharp object and stabbed her in the torso and shoulder.
After the attack, the victim exited the train at the 36th Street station. She was later taken by EMS to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn, where she was listed in stable condition.
The suspect remained on the train and fled to an unknown location. Police have not recovered the weapon and no arrests have been made.
The individual is described as a male with a light complexion and was last seen wearing a black jacket, police said.

The NYPD is continuing its investigation into the incident and reviewing surveillance footage from stations along the D line to track the suspect’s movements after the attack.
Police have not confirmed whether the victim and the attacker knew each other or whether the stabbing was random.
Transit officials said service on the line was not significantly impacted by the incident. There were no other reported injuries.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to contact the NYPD.
