DELTAVILLE, VA — Someone in Virginia is sitting on a $1 million Mega Millions ticket — and they may not even know it.
The winning ticket, purchased at the 7-Eleven on General Puller Highway in Deltaville, matched the first five numbers in the November 22, 2024, Mega Millions drawing, missing only the Mega Ball. But with the clock ticking, the prize remains unclaimed.
Virginia Lottery officials confirmed the ticket will expire at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, if no one comes forward.
Ticket bought in Deltaville could soon be worthless
The winning numbers from that drawing were 13, 20, 26, 32, and 65, with the Mega Ball number 2. Under Virginia law, all lottery prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing date.
If the ticket goes unclaimed, the $1 million will not be paid to the winner but instead will be directed to Virginia’s Literary Fund, which helps provide low-interest loans for public school construction and upgrades.
Middlesex County, where the ticket was purchased, received more than $722,000 in Lottery-generated education funds last fiscal year. The Virginia Lottery reported contributing over $934 million to K-12 education statewide in Fiscal Year 2024.
The Lottery operates eight customer service centers across Virginia where winners can redeem tickets. Officials continue urging players to double-check their tickets before the fast-approaching deadline.
