Teen girl arrested for breaking into occupied Northeast DC home

WASHINGTON, DC — A 13-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with a July home burglary in Northeast where suspects forced their way into an occupied residence and fled with stolen property, police said Tuesday.

The incident happened around 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, in the 400 block of 21st Street NE. Police say three suspects entered the home while it was occupied and were confronted by one of the residents. The group fled the scene after taking personal property from inside the home.

On Sunday, a 13-year-old female juvenile from Northeast DC was arrested under a DC Superior Court custody order and charged with Burglary One. The arrest was announced Tuesday by the Metropolitan Police Department.

Police did not specify the circumstances leading to her identification but confirmed the case remains open. The other two suspects have not been publicly identified, and no further arrests have been announced.
