Four men face prostitution solicitation charges while a fifth is accused of selling cocaine to an undercover officer
CALVERT COUNTY, MD – A summer-long undercover operation at a Calvert County hotel ended with five arrests after investigators arranged meetings with people suspected of seeking prostitution or distributing drugs, including one man accused of selling cocaine directly to an undercover officer.
The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office said the operation was conducted in cooperation with Holiday Inn Express and developed throughout July and August.
Undercover officers communicated with individuals suspected of distributing controlled dangerous substances or attempting to solicit prostitution, according to the sheriff’s office.
The enforcement phase took place Friday, Sept. 4, when undercover officers arranged meetings with individuals who investigators said had expressed an intent to engage in prostitution-related activity or distribute drugs.
Four men were arrested and charged with solicitation of prostitution: Aydian Oravitz, 19, of Indian Head; Ricardo Innis Jr., 32, of La Plata; Siddiq Abdus-Samad, 30, of Wilson, North Carolina; and Scott Hendrick, 30, of District Heights.
A fifth man, Benjamin Leonard, 47, of Waldorf, allegedly arrived at the operation location and distributed cocaine to an undercover officer.
Leonard was taken into custody without incident and charged with distribution of cocaine and possession with intent to distribute cocaine and fentanyl, according to the sheriff’s office.
The operation resulted in five arrests involving prostitution-related and controlled-substance offenses.
The sheriff’s office credited Holiday Inn Express management and staff with cooperating during the investigation.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. All charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
