14 alleged gang members charged in brooklyn murder and shooting conspiracy

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Fourteen alleged members of the 59 Brims and Bloodhound Brims gangs have been indicted on charges including murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy in connection with a series of violent crimes in South Brooklyn, authorities announced Wednesday.

The indictment follows a long-term investigation into gang-related violence in Sheepshead Bay and Coney Island, where the defendants are accused of carrying out 19 shootings that left nine people injured, including four innocent bystanders. Two suspects are also charged with the murder of a rival gang member.

“Gun violence hit a record low last year because of strategic enforcement and gang takedowns like today’s, which removed 14 alleged shooters responsible for a staggering level of violence,” Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said.

New York City Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch emphasized the impact of the arrests, noting that authorities seized 18 illegal firearms during the investigation and targeted repeat offenders with histories of violent crime.

The defendants are being arraigned in Brooklyn Supreme Court on a 129-count indictment that includes charges of second-degree murder, conspiracy, and weapons possession. Authorities say the gang rivalry intensified after the 2021 killing of a Bloodhound Brim member and escalated through violent retaliation, online threats, and gang-related music videos.

Law enforcement officials credited the joint effort between the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office and the NYPD’s Gun Violence Suppression Division for dismantling what they described as a dangerous and organized criminal network.
