23-Year-Old Arrested for Armed Carjacking in Silver Spring

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Montgomery County Police have arrested 23-year-old Christopher Eugene Light of Washington, D.C., in connection with an armed carjacking that took place on Thayer Avenue in Silver Spring on Monday, February 5, 2024. The incident occurred around 4:20 AM near Mayor Lane, prompting a swift response from 3rd District officers.

During the incident, three suspects, armed with handguns equipped with blue lasers and an assault rifle, emerged from a white Audi SQ5 and confronted two victims inside their vehicle. The victims were ordered out, and the suspects stole personal items before fleeing in the victims’ 2017 Mercedes E300, accompanied by the Audi.

Both vehicles were later found unoccupied. The Audi had been reported stolen from New Jersey in October 2023. Christopher Eugene Light was identified as one of the suspects and was apprehended in Washington D.C. on Monday, March 25, 2024. He is currently awaiting extradition to Montgomery County, facing charges of armed carjacking, armed robbery, and related firearm offenses.

The search is ongoing for two additional suspects, both described as Black males of unknown age. Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
