Country Fair in Union City sold the top-prize Golden Ticket and will collect a $10K bonus
UNION CITY, PA – A Pennsylvania Lottery scratch-off worth a staggering $3 million was sold at a convenience store in Erie County, turning a $30 Golden Ticket into the game’s top prize and earning the retailer a $10K bonus.
The Pennsylvania Lottery announced Friday that Country Fair, located at 76 N. Main St. in Union City, sold the winning $3,000,000 Golden Ticket scratch-off.
The ticket captured one of the game’s $3 million top prizes.
The $3,000,000 Golden Ticket costs $30 per play.
The Lottery did not release information about the person who bought the winning ticket.
Unlike drawing games, Pennsylvania scratch-off tickets are distributed randomly to retailers.
That means neither the Pennsylvania Lottery nor individual stores know in advance where a top-prize ticket will be sold.
The Lottery said it learns where winning scratch-off tickets were sold only after the prizes are claimed.
Country Fair will receive a $10,000 retailer bonus for selling the $3 million winner.
The prize is subject to applicable withholding because Pennsylvania Lottery winnings of more than $5,000 are subject to withholding.
Scratch-off winners have until one year after a game’s posted end-sale date to claim their prizes.
The Lottery advises winners to immediately sign the backs of their tickets.
