WOODBRIDGE, VA — On Thursday at 2:27 PM, police were called to a home on Castlebridge Ln. due to an assault report. A 20-year-old woman witnessed an acquaintance, later identified as Prince Jakim Isaiah Maldonado, trespassing in her backyard.
As she tried to enter her home, Maldonado followed and forcefully entered, assaulting her and brandishing a firearm. He prevented her from calling emergency services by breaking her phone, although another family member was able to alert the police. Maldonado fled before officers arrived but was arrested on May 20.
The victim sustained minor injuries. It was later discovered that Maldonado had taken the victim’s vehicle without permission, which was subsequently recovered and returned. Maldonado, 24, from Dumfries, faces multiple charges including strangulation, armed burglary, abduction, and illegal possession of a firearm, among others.
He remains in custody with a pending court date.
He was captured by the U.S. Marshals.

Teachers, school staff, parents and other community members are eligible to submit an entry.
Each winning school will receive a teachers lounge makeover valued at $10,000, including new furniture and supplies intended to create a space for school employees to take breaks during the workday.
The two schools will be selected in a drawing Oct. 7.
Entries can be submitted at thankateacherva.com/teacherslounge by selecting an eligible K-12 public school and completing the entry form.
The promotion returns after Suburban Park Elementary in Norfolk was selected as a winner last year.
Its teachers lounge received a new couch, refrigerator, tables, chairs, greenery and cabinetry. The renovated space also incorporated canvas wall displays featuring artwork from students who won the Thank a Teacher Art Contest.
The Virginia Lottery reported generating more than $914 million for K-12 public education during Fiscal Year 2026, representing approximately 10% of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.
Since 1999, more than $15 billion in Virginia Lottery profits has gone to K-12 public education, according to the Lottery.

WASHINGTON, DC – A 12-year-old girl is the focus of a missing endangered juvenile search after she was last seen Sunday afternoon at L’Enfant Plaza Metro Station in Washington, DC, and Fairfax County police are asking for help locating her.
Police identified the missing girl as Empress Imani King.
Empress was last seen at approximately 4:55 p.m. Sunday at the L’Enfant Plaza Metro Station.
Fairfax County Police described her as 5 feet 2 inches tall and approximately 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
She was wearing a pink T-shirt and light blue jeans when she was last seen, according to police.
Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance or said where she may have been headed.

CHESAPEAKE, VA — Police are searching for a woman accused of using false identification to buy a laptop worth about $1,700 from a city retailer.
The purchase happened July 24.
Investigators said the woman entered a business in the 4100 block of Portsmouth Boulevard at about 6:31 p.m. and presented the false identification.
Police released her photograph.
She wore a pink and dark-colored ball cap, a pink T-shirt bearing the word “LUCKY,” dark jeans, pink sneakers and a black crossbody bag.
Detectives are investigating possible identity theft, credit card theft, credit card fraud and computer fraud in connection with the purchase.
No arrest has been announced.
