Two K-12 public schools will each receive a renovated teachers lounge worth $10,000 through the Virginia Lottery and The Supply Room promotion

RICHMOND, VA – Two Virginia public schools are set to get $10,000 teachers lounge transformations, with the Virginia Lottery opening its second annual statewide promotion to give educators new spaces filled with furniture and supplies.

The Teachers’ Lounge Makeover promotion, conducted with The Supply Room, is open through Oct. 6.

Anyone age 18 or older can enter a Virginia K-12 public school for a chance to receive one of the two makeovers.

Teachers, school staff, parents and other community members are eligible to submit an entry.

Each winning school will receive a teachers lounge makeover valued at $10,000, including new furniture and supplies intended to create a space for school employees to take breaks during the workday.

The two schools will be selected in a drawing Oct. 7.

Entries can be submitted at thankateacherva.com/teacherslounge by selecting an eligible K-12 public school and completing the entry form.

The promotion returns after Suburban Park Elementary in Norfolk was selected as a winner last year.

Its teachers lounge received a new couch, refrigerator, tables, chairs, greenery and cabinetry. The renovated space also incorporated canvas wall displays featuring artwork from students who won the Thank a Teacher Art Contest.

The Virginia Lottery reported generating more than $914 million for K-12 public education during Fiscal Year 2026, representing approximately 10% of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.

Since 1999, more than $15 billion in Virginia Lottery profits has gone to K-12 public education, according to the Lottery.
