Mohamed Musa Mohamed died after he was found suffering from a gunshot wound on Lion Drive, with detectives identifying a juvenile suspect nine days later
COLUMBUS, OH – A 20-year-old man was shot and killed following a dispute on Lion Drive in Columbus, and nine days later homicide detectives identified a 17-year-old juvenile as the person allegedly responsible for his death, police said.
The shooting happened at approximately 11:32 p.m. Aug. 30 in the 4900 block of Lion Drive, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
Officers responding to a report of a shooting found a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Police later identified him as Mohamed Musa Mohamed, 20.
Mohamed was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where medical personnel attempted to save him. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
The investigation continued until Tuesday, when detectives identified a 17-year-old juvenile as the person allegedly responsible for Mohamed’s death, according to police.
Police said the juvenile stated that the shooting occurred following a dispute.
The department did not provide additional details about the dispute, disclose the relationship between the teenager and Mohamed or identify the juvenile.
The 17-year-old was slated at the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center.
Police did not specify the charges filed against the juvenile in the information released Thursday.
