BROOKLYN, NY – The NYPD is requesting public assistance to identify a suspect involved in a series of assaults in the 73rd Precinct, specifically targeting subway stations in Brooklyn. The assaults, which occurred at Atlantic Avenue and Halsey Street subway stations, have raised concerns about safety in the transit system.

The first incident occurred on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at around 6:50 AM at the Atlantic Avenue station. A 49-year-old woman reported being slapped on the side of the head by an unidentified individual, resulting in her glasses falling and breaking, and a minor abrasion to her ear due to headphones she was wearing at the time. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.
The following day, May 17, at approximately 10:25 AM, another assault took place at the Halsey Street station. A 67-year-old woman was slapped on the left side of her face by an unidentified individual as she was entering the station, causing her to fall and scrape her knee. The assailant fled on foot toward Halsey Street.
In both instances, the victims refused medical attention at the scene. The NYPD has released images of the suspect and is urging anyone with information about these incidents or the individual involved to contact authorities to assist in the ongoing investigation and enhance community safety.
