Dorchester Man Arrested on Assault Charges Following Large Party

Boston, MA – Early Friday morning, July 5, officers from Districts E-18 (Hyde Park), E-5 (Roslindale/West Roxbury), and B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Joquentz Constant, 28, of Dorchester, on assault charges after responding to a large party.

At about 2:00 AM, officers were dispatched to 565 River Street due to reports of a large crowd. They issued multiple verbal commands for the crowd to disperse, warning that failure to comply would result in arrests for disorderly conduct and unlawful assembly.

A shirtless male began screaming and acting aggressively toward officers but was pulled back into an apartment by others in the crowd. Shortly after, the same individual ran towards Marcy Road and attempted to engage in a fight with an unknown person.

Officers observed the individual, later identified as Constant, holding a knife and feared he was attempting to stab the other person. They commanded him to drop the knife, which he threw into an empty yard on River Street. Officers recovered the knife and successfully dispersed the crowd.

Constant was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault, and Disorderly Conduct. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
