West Virginia Man Overjoyed with $140K Lottery Win Amid Cancer Battle

Belpre, OH – Melvin Stubbs III, a West Virginia resident, recently celebrated a significant win in the Rolling Cash 5 lottery, taking home $140,001. His victory comes at a poignant time as he battles cancer, adding a layer of joy to his challenging health journey.

“The day of the drawing, I was just spending time with my son and decided to go purchase a ticket,” Stubbs shared. His routine trip across the bridge to play his numbers turned into a life-changing event when he checked his ticket that evening. “I seen I won,” he recounted, the surprise bringing him immense joy. “I was pretty happy about it. I couldn’t sleep that night,” he added.

Stubbs plans to use the $100,800 he will receive after taxes to support his family, especially his wife, as his illness has kept him from working in recent years. “I’m gonna try to save it up and help my wife because I hadn’t been able to work a few years,” he said, emphasizing the financial relief the winnings will bring.

The lucky ticket was sold at Peoples News & Book Mart #4 in Belpre, Ohio. The Rolling Cash 5 is a daily draw game, with the winning numbers for Stubbs’ lucky draw being 4-5-29-30-31.
