Pleasantville Man Faces Charges in Fatal DUI Incident

MAYS LANDING, NJ—Maykol J. Mendozarizo, 38, of Pleasantville, has been indicted by an Atlantic County Grand Jury on charges of second-degree vehicular homicide. The charges stem from a fatal incident that took place on November 19, 2023, in Atlantic City.

On the evening of Sunday, November 19, 2023, at around 8:16 PM, Mendozarizo was involved in a collision on Albany Avenue, where his vehicle struck Heriberto Alicea, 61, of Atlantic City. Alicea succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigations later revealed that Mendozarizo was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Crash Investigations Unit led the inquiry into the tragic incident. The indictment serves as a formal charge and does not equate to guilt. Mendozarizo is presumed innocent until proven guilty, as is customary in all criminal cases.
