South Hackensack Police Officer Charged with Endangering Child, Attacking Woman

South Hackensack, NJ — David Chun, a police officer with the Palisades Park Police Department, has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including threats, aggravated assaults, and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest followed an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, led by Chief Matthew Finck.

On Friday, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Confidential Investigations Unit received information regarding an alleged assault on an adult female and endangering the welfare of two children. The investigation revealed that between 2019 and 2023, Chun threatened and assaulted a female on multiple occasions in Hasbrouck Heights. Detectives also determined that Chun endangered the welfare of two young children during this period.

As a result of the investigation, on Monday, David Chun was charged with five counts of second-degree aggravated assault, one count of second-degree aggravated assault, one count of third-degree aggravated assault, one count of fourth-degree aggravated assault, seven counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of third-degree terroristic threats, and one count of criminal mischief. Chun was arrested in Paramus, and taken to the Bergen County Jail for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
