Cumberland Woman Arrested on Second-Degree Assault Charges

CUMBERLAND, MD—Cheyenne Mariah Nair, 26, was arrested by the Cumberland Police Department on charges of second-degree assault following an incident on Saturday, July 28, 2024. Responding to a call at a Park Street business, officers encountered a male victim displaying visible injuries, including redness on his cheek and nose.

The victim reported that his girlfriend, Ms. Nair, had hit him with a closed fist. Subsequently, Nair was taken into custody and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center, where she awaits her initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner. The case underscores local efforts to address and manage incidents of domestic violence effectively.
