Police Seek Suspect in Assault and Robbery of Teen Girl in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with an assault and robbery that occurred in the Brownsville neighborhood early Friday morning.

According to police, the incident took place on August 30, 2024, at approximately 12:35 a.m. near the intersection of Rockaway Boulevard and Dean Street. An 18-year-old woman was walking in the area when an unidentified male approached her from behind and struck her in the head with a closed fist, causing her to fall to the ground.

Once the victim was on the ground, the suspect demanded her phone and forcibly touched her private area. The suspect then fled eastbound on Dean Street with the victim’s phone.

The victim was transported by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County, where she was treated for her injuries.

The suspect is described as a male approximately 6 feet tall, with a slim build and dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black hat, and black sweatpants.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to contact the NYPD. The investigation is ongoing.
