Vehicle found in fatal hit-and-run that killed 14-year-old girl in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA — Police have located a vehicle of interest believed to be involved in a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl in West Philadelphia last week.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Crash Investigation Division said they found a 2011 Mercedes Benz E350 in connection with the incident that occurred on Thursday night in the 6500 block of Haverford Avenue. The investigation is ongoing.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:38 p.m. on September 26, when Dawn Watson, 14, of North 66th Avenue, was crossing the street with her mother. She was struck by a dark-colored vehicle, possibly a Mercedes, traveling eastbound at a high speed, police said.

Watson was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders at 9:46 p.m. The driver fled and no arrests have been made.
