MACON COUNTY, N.C. — The Macon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 7-year-old child, who was found deceased at a local residence on Sunday.

Deputies responded to the scene after being dispatched for a death investigation, according to the sheriff’s office. The child was discovered at the home, and his mother was airlifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
