STAFFORD, Va. — A 22-year-old Woodbridge man was arrested Monday after a violent break-in at a South Stafford residence, during which he allegedly used a baseball bat to cause extensive property damage.

Deputies from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a breaking and entering report on Morton Road at approximately 5:35 p.m. on October 14. According to authorities, the suspect, identified as Marvin Ssettumba, entered the home with a baseball bat and began destroying various items.

The suspect was seen leaving the scene in a black Nissan sedan, which was later located by Deputy W.A. Bolinsky at a Valero gas station on Cambridge Street. Ssettumba was detained by deputies and found to have the stolen cash from a safe at the residence, as well as the baseball bat used in the incident.

The homeowner reported that the suspect, who was known to them, took only cash from the safe. The break-in is believed to be connected to a previous larceny allegation between the suspect and the victim.

Ssettumba has been charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, felony destruction of property, and larceny. He is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
