WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A 27-year-old man died after being shot in a Woodbridge commuter lot on Thursday night, and a 22-year-old Vienna man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, according to the Prince William County Police Department.
Police said officers responded to a report of a shooting at 10:42 p.m. in the parking lot located at 2250 Prince William Parkway. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, later identified as Jeffery Kojo Owusu, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers administered aid before Owusu was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation revealed that Owusu and the accused, identified as Christian Geiger, 22, were involved in a dispute that escalated into a physical struggle over a firearm, according to police. During the struggle, the gun discharged, striking Owusu. Police indicated that the incident was not random and that the two men knew each other.
After the shooting, Geiger reportedly fled the scene, prompting an extensive search involving a police K-9 unit and a Fairfax County police helicopter. While Geiger was not immediately located, detectives later tracked him to his residence on Kidwell Town Court in Vienna, where he was taken into custody without incident early Friday morning.
Geiger is being held without bond on charges of involuntary manslaughter. A court date has not yet been scheduled.
