WASHINGTON — A teenage suspect is in custody following an armed robbery in Southeast Washington that involved a brief pursuit and an aerial search by the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department.
The robbery took place around 6:33 p.m. on Tuesday in the 3300 block of Croffut Place, Southeast, where a man was confronted by an armed suspect who demanded his belongings, police said. After the victim handed over his property, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.
A short time later, MPD’s Air Support Unit located the getaway vehicle in the 5000 block of B Street, Southeast, with two occupants inside. Officers quickly moved in, apprehending one suspect and recovering a firearm from the vehicle, according to officials.
The arrested suspect, a 16-year-old male from Southeast D.C., now faces charges of armed robbery and unauthorized use of a vehicle. The identity of the second occupant and their potential involvement in the crime remain under investigation.
