Man arrested for weapons violations after trespassing in Glen Burnie park

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A Glen Burnie man was arrested Sunday evening after police discovered firearms and ammunition in his vehicle while he was trespassing in a local park after hours.

Officers on routine patrol in Old Mill Southgate Park at approximately 7:30 p.m. on December 1 observed a silver Chevrolet Equinox parked inside the park, which was closed at the time. During a search of the vehicle, officers found a 7.62 x 39 Draco rifle, a 9mm Taurus G2C semi-automatic handgun, several high-capacity magazines, and additional ammunition.

The driver, identified as 28-year-old Kalvyn Andre Giggetts of Glen Burnie, was taken into custody and charged with weapons violations.

Authorities have not disclosed further details about Giggetts’ intent or how the firearms came to be in his possession.
