OXON HILL, Md. — A woman shot in Oxon Hill last week has died from her injuries, and two suspects are now in custody facing murder charges, police announced Monday.

Prince George’s County Police identified the suspects as 37-year-old Carlas Carter and 26-year-old Mary Ashby, both of Alexandria, Va. They are accused of fatally shooting 26-year-old Tamara Jones of Washington, D.C., during a dispute on November 26.

Officers responded to the 6200 block of Oxon Hill Road around 2:45 a.m. that day, where they found Jones inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound. She succumbed to her injuries three days later on November 29.

Detectives said the suspects and the victim were known to each other and that the shooting stemmed from a disagreement. Carter and Ashby were arrested in Virginia with help from the Fairfax County Police Department and Alexandria City Police Department. They remain in custody pending extradition to Maryland.
