Man attacked, robbed on Brooklyn subway platform; suspect sought

BROOKLYN, NY — A 37-year-old man was attacked and robbed Monday morning inside the Bergen Street subway station in Brooklyn, police said.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:33 a.m. on the southbound 2/3 train platform. According to police, an unidentified individual approached the victim, simulated a weapon, and forcibly took his cellphone.

When the victim attempted to retrieve the phone, the suspect punched, kicked, and struck him multiple times in the face with the cellphone. The victim ultimately recovered his phone before the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim sustained injuries during the attack but was not hospitalized, authorities said.

Police describe the suspect as a slim-built male with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a black Nike mask, a white “Beetlejuice” hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, white sneakers, and carrying a book bag.
